Maverick Green Sofa Sessions 2019
After the burning of the red sofa sometime in 2019 a change was coming. While looking for the red sofa i came across a green sofa covered in hay. It was time to move on and the Green Sofa Sessions was born.
Not unlike early recordings of Country musicians playing on a porch or steps, as exemplified by the excellent series by Ken Burns "The History Country Music", Jackson invited musicians to perform live straight to camera using only one overhead microphone.
They are recorded for posterity for the Maverick Festival archive. All music © the musicians all film material © Bill Jackson Foto Films.

Maverick Green Sofa Sessions
History
In 2014 I had an idea which I put to the Founder and Director of the Maverick Festival of Americana Roots Music, Paul Spencer. Cutting a long story short i found an old red sofa in a barn and the rest is history as they say. Nearly 200 individual singer / song writers and bands have sat on the Red Sofa. Many of the photographs have been used by the musicians for publicity and some have made their way onto album covers. In 2018 I did the sessions on an iPhone when we couldn't get the red sofa out a barn full of hay bales. Examples of sessions between 2014 -2018 which shows the development of the concept.

TIMBERYARD 2021 ongoing
CONTINUUM 2021
As part of my long term residence at Timberyard in Suffolk as part of Studio Fabre Hardy Continuum residency project, I will be gathering evidence at night to the 10 acre estate especially the trees, many of which are ancient trees dating back 1000 years. The Contunuum project run by Dr Miche Fabre and Dr Flora Gathorne-Hardy, two women artists and researchers. are inviting artists and other creatives to respond to the landscape.

I was commissioned in February 2022 by Bryter Music, Blue Raincoat Music and Chrysalis Records to recut Imagine to launch a new Nick Drake Facebook and YouTube channel as part of the marketing lead up to the release of the album
