Installation photograph of the set at The Jerwood Studio at Dance East
Commissioned by PhotoEast in collaboration Dance East and Choreographer Tim Casson, I produced the audio and visual backdrop to Tim's 2 year project Danceogracy which began in Montreal and ended in Ipswich.
I designed the set using three screens for film projections and the soundscape/dance track to the final performance which was performed on three occasions at Dance East on Saturday 28th May. Nearly 250 people came along. For me it was an exciting development to my recent directions with audio video installations. Working with two great technicians, Josh and John, they helped me realise my vision, creating a multi speaker surround soundscape and a multi projection piece about Ipswich. The narrative was the journey of two visitors who arrive in Ipswich, create a dance sequence having spoken to the people of Ipswich and leave.
My recent experiments in surround / quad and multitrack soundscapes are now being explored using new software in live eventing rather than a completed piece. This means that I can design in situ the soundscape, giving more control over how sound moves around a specific space and I can work more effectively using multiple video mapping through one projector, designing the final outcome in situ.
