DIORAMAS 2015 - 2016

A selection from the series Diorama For Beachcombers commissioned by Caroline Wiseman for the London Art Fair in 2015, Diorama For Dogs commissioned by PhotoEast 2016.

The word diorama /ˌdaɪəˈrɑːmə/ can either refer to a 19th-century mobile theatre device, or, in modern usage, a three-dimensional full-size or miniature model, sometimes enclosed in a glass showcase for a museum.

These onsite dioramas were built onsite. The background is a large scale photographic montage measuring anywhere between 3 to 5 metres in length and 2 metres high. The floors are also large sale photographs mounted in sections onto MDF. Props are then added to give a Trompe-l'œil (French for "deceive the eye) effect. People are then invited to create their own narrative either by brining their own belongings or offered a few props to choose from.
