Frames 24 x 60
“The cinema is truth 24 frames-per-second”
Jean-Luc Godard
While shooting along the coast at night I was aware of the sound of the sea, the waves crashing onto the beaches. I wanted to see if in only ambient light, the sea could be recorded. I chose to shoot in total darkness, no moonlight with an overcast sky. It was I refer to as Dark Light, the light you feel but not see. I was reminded of the Godard quote when referring to these images. Each "Frame", exposed up to 25 mins, contained 24 frames per second x the minute x the exposure time. The work was the foundation for my current light mapping of the unseen.
A selection of these can now be purchased via ArtDog London
